Although the hotel industry in many areas are struggling under the weight of the credit crunch, occupancy levels in London increased for the months of May, according to PKF’s consultancy services.
Comparing May 2008 to May 2009, the occupancy rates were up around 82%, although this may be due to massive discounts being offered to fill rooms, which in turn, despite the higher level of occupancy, actually caused a drop in revenue for most hoteliers.
Whilst this may seem a mix of good and bad news for the hotel owners, on the whole it could possibly be seen as a good thing for the consumer.
