Town and City centre coffee houses are now almost synonymous with the use of free WiFi. Many office staff & self employed people choose to sup on a latte whilst going about their online tasks, in the comfort of a coffee house.
Many ‘decent’ coffee shops have WiFi available for free, and think nothing of allowing their customers to plug in to power sockets to keep their laptops charged, and their ‘virtual office’ up and running.
One coffee house has shown its eagerness to make as much money as possible from their customers…
GreenParkBrasserie, Bath
The Bath based coffee shop, The Green Park Brasserie is close to the City Centre of Bath. Although the coffee shop does offer WiFi for free to its customers, it has a surcharge of .50p to plug in a laptop. Although this fee is obviously very affordable, the green park Brasserie is one of the few coffee houses charging such a fee, and one customer stated that they feel it is a little out of touch with the times:
“Most places are more than happy to let you plug your laptop in for free! – I mean, they don’t use much power, do they?”
Perhaps the Green Park Brasserie management are worried about high utility bills?
